A memoir that reads like a novel by Marina Berkovich is about the author's childhood in the USSR and the amazing story of her remembering herself since just over one year of age, thanks, or rather, not, to her dysfunctional Jewish family. Subjected to institutionalized anti-Semitism in the capital of Ukraine, Marina strives to conform to socialist ideals, yet inadvertently sets events in motion that will ultimately allow to create a plausible story she and her mom must present for their exodus out of the USSR. The Iron Curtain slams behind them. Among thousands of stateless immigrants' in Europe, they impatiently await the most coveted prize - admittance to the USA.
